A second mammogram confirmed it was indeed breast cancer. The then 43 year old underwent a lumpectomy to remove the mass, a lymphectomy to remove a cancerous lymph node, seven weeks of radiation therapy and four rounds of chemotherapy. She said she may have lost her hair, but never her will to beat cancer. Then in September of 2005 a new mass was discovered in her chest. Three months later she underwent a double mastectomy. Still determined to move forward, less than one week after surgery she was back in court arguing a case. What followed were multiple reconstruction surgeries as recent as last year as her plastic surgeon tweaks his work to leave her whole. To date, she is cancer free and an advocate for breast cancer survivors in the community.
